The Monkey King
There was once a kingdom of monkeys in the forest. The King of the Monkeys was very very large, and was very kind and wise. One day, the King was strolling & he noticed mango trees along the side of a river. He also noticed a human castle downstream. He then ordered the monkeys to remove all the mangos from these trees, "or there would be diseaster". The monkeys did not understand the King's intention, but they did as told anyway. All the mangos were taken off these trees except one. This one was hidden behind a nest.

One day, this mango was ripe and fell into the river. It flowed downstream where the human King was having a bath. He noticed the mango & asked the Prime Minister what it was. The PM told him it was a "mango", a fruit of wonderful taste. The King then ordered that the mango be cut into small pieces & he gave a small piece to each of his ministers. When satisfied that the mango was not poisonous, he ate the rest of it & realized how tasty it was. He craved for more.

The next day, the human king, with his troops, went upstream to search for more of these fruits. There were lots of mango trees, but also lots of monkeys. The human king doesn't want to share the mangos with the monkeys, so he ordered all of them to be killed. A massacre started.

When the news reached the wise Monkey King, he commented, "The day has finally arrived". The thousands of monkeys were chased all the way to the edge of the forest. There was a deep cliff at the edge of the forest, and a bamboo forest at the other side of the cliff. The Monkey King saw that if his subjects could cross over to the bamboo forest, they will be saved.

With his huge body, he formed a bridge over the cliff and thousands of monkeys trampled over him to reach the safety of the bamboo forest. He endured all the pain. One monkey did not like the King & he saw this as an opportunity to get even. As he was crossing over the King's body, he pierced a spear through the King's heart. The King screamed in pain but endured the pain until all his subjects were safely across. Then he collapsed.

The human king witnessed the whole thing. He was so touched that he ordered the Monkey King be saved. When the Monkey King recovered his consciousness, the human king asked him, "You are their King, why did you bother to die for them?". The Monkey King replied, "Because I am their King". With that, he died.

The human king was so touched that he decided to be a good king from that day and he ordered that the monkeys in the bamboo forest be protected from harm forever.

I have one but it is paraphrased so bear with me;

A monk was being chased by Tigers. They forced him to run for safety out on a rotten fallen over tree that made a bridge over the river-

The lions followed him hungrily onto the tree forcing the monk to hang onto a vine that hung from the fallen over tree.

Beneath the monk were hungry crocodiles awaiting his fall. Above him hungry lions.

Suddenly, ants came along and started eating away at the vine he hung from.

The vine became weak and would break at any second.

Then the monk saw a strawberry. He ate it and it was the best strawberry he had ever tasted.-

One rule in the Zenmonastery was that it was strictly forbidden to touch or be with women.

One they the master was out walking with a few desciples when they saw a woman that was struggeling in a river not to drown. The master went in lifted her up and put her on the ground. The crue went on walking in silence.

After a long while one desciple asked: Master, when you lifted that woman out of the river, isnt that against the rules?

The master replied: I lifted her for a few seconds and than I put her down, you however seams to still be carrying her around in your mind.

Master asks: Is that heavy stone in your mind or outside your mind?

It is in my mind master.

Master: Then it must be very heavy for you carrying it around!




Two desciples was arguing if it was the wind or the flag that was moving: The master said: its your minds that moves.

The King and the zenpriest had a great respect for eachother. Every sunday they had a cup of tea together talking. One sunday the king asked the priest: Master: What is the ego for such a thing?

The master replied: That was the most stupid and unintelligent shitty question I ever heard!!! Weirdo!!!

When the master noticed the Kings reaction he pointed at him and said: That! that is your ego!

Mästare! Hur når jag frigörelse?

Vem binder dig?

Ingen.

Varför söker du då frigörelse?

Mästaren till lärjungen: Varför mediterar du?

För att bli Budda.

Mästaren tog upp en sten och började polera den mot marken.

Mäster, varför gör du så?

För att stenen ska bli en diamant.

Förlåt mästare men hur mycket du än polerar kommer stenen aldrig att bli en diamant.

Lärjunge, hur mycket du än mediterar kommer du aldrig att bli Buddha.


Kommentar: För er oinvigda kan det tyckas som att vissa storys är nonsens. Zen menar däremot att vi alla redan är Buddha och att det är själva strävandet efter något( även buddha naturen själv) som sätter hinder för att se just detta. Bilden av upplysningen i framtiden hindrar oss från att se att vi är upplysta i nuet. Självironi, humor och direkt visande är grundläggande strukturer i Zen som de flesta andra religioner saknar.

Sitting Bull eller Sittande tjuren, eg. Tatanka Iotanke, ursprungligen Hunkeshni (den långsamme), född ca. 1831 vid Grand River i nuv. South Dakota, USA, död 15 december 1890 i Standing Rock Indian Reservation, North Dakota, USA. Var högste hövding över den nordamerikanska indianstammen Hunkpapa-Lakota (Sioux). Hans krigshövding var Pizi ("buffelgalla"), mer känd som Gall, en av indianernas ledare i Slaget vid Little Big Horn 25 juni 1876.

Sitting Bull ledde småningom sin stam till Kanada, där de bodde tills han 1881 lovades amnesti av den amerikanska regeringen.

Senare i livet turnerade Sitting Bull med Buffalo Bill Codys vilda västern-show. När den religiösa och mystiska andedansen spred sig hos siouxerna försökte myndigheterna förmå hövdingen att stoppa rörelsen. När indianpolisen kom för att gripa honom utbröt tumult och Sitting Bull och hans son blev dödade.

Jag visste väl att det var något djupare med dig Ratman än vad det såg ut på ytan;) du har helt rätt, folk lär sig inte av sina misstag tyvärr. det du berättar om att du såg i en film har också Hopi indianerna förutspått för många år sedan. Intresserad av att höra din historia när du orkar någon gång. mycket av min historia, och då menar jag min personliga historia kan du läsa om i en bok skriven av the barefoot doctor, en väldight speciell person som jag träffade 99 i asien och som samlade historier om olika människor han träffade på sina resor. boken heter "The naked warrior". . 1 dag kvar till min lilla surftripp i sverige, ser tyvärr inte så lovande ut, men i vattnet ska jag om det så bara blir paddlingsträning:)

VAAAA?!?!? Orkar du inte berätta din historia??? Har du blivit sjuk? Fått skrivkramp. Det är fan ingen som skriver lika mycket som du!! Kom igen nu, ta ett par öl, låt fingrarna dansa över tangentbordet och bjud in oss på en resa kring din uppväxt.
