Any one out there doing this? Seems like a good way to get out on the water and train keep fit at the same time. I have been doing a bit research into different boards etc. But to get one shipped to sweden seems expersive? Anyone got any ideas on the sort of boards I need. I am thinking a SurfTech 10 foot soft top or even a 10ft. bic soft top. Seems if you can get a mal that is around 10 feet in length they are mostly 23 inches wide that should work shouldn't it. Shark boy you must have an opinion on this anyone.

Bollocks to that! I've been messing about with stand up paddle surfing for a few years. I just use an old eighties windsurfingboard and a cheap plastic paddle. It's just about free and good enough for me with the added bonus of not worrying about slamming it into the rocks. Rides can get pretty long but the nosedives with those boards are pretty usual!

Most real paddle boards have a rudder in the middle that you hold between your thighs and steer as well

stand-up paddling is a blast. After just getting back from a multi-day solo kajak trip, I'm thinking why not on a paddle board instead. Cruising around on flat days, riding some open ocean ground swell or find a small break on one of a thousand islands out here. I've decided to sell my kayak to force myself onto a SUB. The new boards cost quite a bit, but I agree that some old windsurfboards would work well. 11 - 12 foot and 28-30 inches wide. Check out the CI SUB Fish! Machado has that thing wired. Might even build one myself this summer.

Just came back from a surf down at Broken where a guy out on a paddle board got smashed by some solid 4ft:ers. Looks pretty hard when it gets bigger, especially when its fast and sucky. He had a big mal with deck grips all over it. It must have been 9-10' and about 5" thick.

Just go to any larger coastal camping area in Sthlm and you'll find moldy old windsurfing boards jammed up under peoples cararan trailers. Most people who still have these boards are just too lazy to get rid of them. If you don't get one for free cough up 100 kr and I'd be surprised if it isn't yours!

Hey Lee!
I have a friend who is waaaaay into this and he doesn't recommend smaller than 11'6" for SUP when you're out in the ocean and it's choppy. He has tried smaller but they're unstable and you have to be experienced to manage that...or, if the waves are clean and smooth. (Which doesn't happen to often here in Swe.) Better get a bigger one if you want to make it easy for ya

Heard 11'6" is gonna cost almost 9000 kr, without the paddle.

Hey!
Checked out the CI SUB Fish: www.ricksactionsportsandsurfshop.com/surfboards1.htm
"& the Biggest Craze Sweeping the Surf World is Stand up Paddle Surfing & Al's at the forefront of design here as well as at every level of surfboard technology. The "Caddie" Stand Up Paddle Board is designed for good stability for open water paddling but still allows easy maneuverability in the suf. Available with 4 fin setup with single fin box that enhances maneuverability and creates a nice clean track while paddling and surfing. The Stand Up Paddle Board comes with a half moon tail & is available in 11 & 12 foot versions.

The Stand up Fish is a result of Al & Rob Machado's collaboration & testing over the last several months. Not only is this board a fast and stable paddler, it is easier to surf than any other Stand up board on the market. The SUB Fish is designed for spending time in the surf rather than distance paddling. Comes standard with a swallow tail quad set up & available 9'0", 10'0", & 11'0". "

I want this for myself- for sure!!! But sounds a bit expensive though since Al is the shaper.

Nån som har nåt förslag på vilken sorts paddel man ska ha? Man har ju en lite annorlunda paddelposition jämfört med t.ex i en kajak
