stand-up paddling is a blast. After just getting back from a multi-day solo kajak trip, I'm thinking why not on a paddle board instead. Cruising around on flat days, riding some open ocean ground swell or find a small break on one of a thousand islands out here. I've decided to sell my kayak to force myself onto a SUB. The new boards cost quite a bit, but I agree that some old windsurfboards would work well. 11 - 12 foot and 28-30 inches wide. Check out the CI SUB Fish! Machado has that thing wired. Might even build one myself this summer.
Hey!
Checked out the CI SUB Fish:

"& the Biggest Craze Sweeping the Surf World is Stand up Paddle Surfing & Al's at the forefront of design here as well as at every level of surfboard technology. The "Caddie" Stand Up Paddle Board is designed for good stability for open water paddling but still allows easy maneuverability in the suf. Available with 4 fin setup with single fin box that enhances maneuverability and creates a nice clean track while paddling and surfing. The Stand Up Paddle Board comes with a half moon tail & is available in 11 & 12 foot versions.
The Stand up Fish is a result of Al & Rob Machado's collaboration & testing over the last several months. Not only is this board a fast and stable paddler, it is easier to surf than any other Stand up board on the market. The SUB Fish is designed for spending time in the surf rather than distance paddling. Comes standard with a swallow tail quad set up & available 9'0", 10'0", & 11'0". "
I want this for myself- for sure!!! But sounds a bit expensive though since Al is the shaper.
