Greetings all. I was recently on a plane talking to a kind outdoorsman from Lund interested in taking up kitesurfing with his two sons. I told him that there were waves in Sweden. He was an ex-hanglider, in tune with the wind and the coastlines. He was really surprised about and interested by the prospect of "surfing in Sweden". I told him about surfsverige and of course the Molle campaign. He was supportive of our obvious cause. How many more outdoors enthusiasts would share that sentiment? Windsurfers, kiters, climbers, divers, hikers, mountainbikers, sailors... It occured to me... there are heaps of outdoors people in Sweden and Denmark! How can we bring them on board? How might they contribute? There are obviously mountaineers who use Kulleberg. (bigwall.dk) And then there are the divers. Who else has an interest in preserving the outdoors? How can we capture this audience? The day is nearing. We can't lose. We will not lose Molle!

So, what are our strategies going to be in the coming months? Check out these links for a basic course in nonviolent direct action.

I see that Greenpeace advertises on this website. What might we learn from them re: nonviolent conflict/ direct action strategies? Can we organize some training with them? It would help to avoid pitfalls and maximize our positive exposure and efficaciousness. Our differences must not come between us in any way. This is an issue that is as global as it is local. (see the save the waves site and try to get your hands on a copy of Lost Jewel of the Atlantic about Madeira)

We'll all be there...right? But what will our strategies be? Will showing up be enough? I was thinking that we might all share our ideas on this forum so as to have an effective approach in the coming months. read the above links and bring in your own if you can find them in Swedish, Danish or whatever. Public support is essential seeing that we have 0 support from the Kommune.

It is so obvious that surfing is BOOMING in Scandinavia; across all age groups, gender and nationality. This is creating economic opportunity, a more eclectic culture, a more globally aware group of young travelers and a more healthy outdoors oriented populace. I mean, 300 m. SEK towards a Flowrider, a pan-Scandinavian surf mag, Surfsverige's own blossoming, new surf shops... It all makes sailing and a good nights stay at the Grand Hotel in Molle seem...passe.

I don't have the answers but I would hope that together we can forge a powerful front that can STOP this dumb plan to destroy the best and most consistent jewel in our own little sea.
