good on ya mate for finally getting wet...
a tip from me..it's only cold if you don't have the right gear..like they say in sweden..'there's never bad weather just bad clothing'..i guess when you have such shit weather as they have here you have to have some excuse to get yourself outside..hahaha..but actually, if you start surfing more often you will get to like the shit weather cause it's exactly that weather that creates the waves ...
up where we are,we surf in 2 deg water sometimes and.... often in winter, (if the baltic doesn't freeze that is!), it can be minus and snowing out..no probs at all to surf 4-5hrs if ya got the right gear...
you need a 6/5/4 with 7mill boots and 5mm crab/or finger gloves + a pair of 7mm mitten for the really cold days..then you are toasty warm..
for my all year round kit i have a 3/2,4/3 and my trusty 6/5/4 wetsuits..3mm finger gloves, 5mm finger, 5mm crab and the last resort 7mm mittens... i only have one pair of boots, my 7mm and i surf in them with less and less rubber on my body until i don't need to wear boots.. i also have a 3mm loose hood and a 2mm wetty cap that i use to mix and match with all my wetties depending on the water and air temps..you'll learn quickly which ones you need..right now down your way i'd be wearing a really good quality 4/3 sealed wetty with 5mm finger gloves and 7mm boots and a 2mm cap..it's still bathtub warm mate..it's still maybe 11 degs down your way..why suffer because of the cold when you can be really comfortable and surf just as long as you can in 26 deg water...??good luck and if ya need any advice as to which wetty to get or good prices or places to get stuff write to my guestbook,..peace from da rat
