Skall laga brädan i mellandagarna och i mitt nya ding-kit så fick man med en påse "microballonger" vid namn q-cell. Nån som har nån erfarenhet av hur man använder det?

Det är typ "förtjockningsmedel" om man behöver en tjockare mer trögflyttande lagning, ersätter till viss mån glassfiberduk iom det håller sig på plats bättre än bara resin. Dock utgör ingen förstärkning som duken gör.

You use Q-cell exactly like 'fog'..You use it to fill in larger holes in your board..it expands in the resin and makes a kind of paste..like filler that you fill holes in cars with...when you mix it with resin it is MUCH lighter than if you fill a hole with resin and chopped up fibreglass...Use it like this to fix dings.....

1/ Sand around the area and go down to the fibreglass around the area so that it becomes lower than the original board surface..obs. don't go thru the fibreglass into the foam if you can avoid it....remove any loose pieces from in the ding etc..MAKE SURE THAT THE DING IS TOTALLY DRY...If it's wet don't fill the hole till you have dried it out..otherwise the ding will swell and crack later...

2/ Get an old teaspoon from the kitchen and flatten it out with a hammer...It's perfect for mixing resin and q-cell with....Mix up resin with the hardener FIRST and mix it well....quickly....... so that you have time to mix in the q-cell..Then just pour the q-cell into the resin..... work quickly...and mix and add q-cell till you get a workable paste..like soft butter!!

3/ Fill the hole, use the teaspoon that you have flattened out with a hammer...it's perfect for scooping up the q'cell with and for ' working' it into the hole....make sure you work with the q-cell a bit...it tends to get bubbles that rise up when it hardens so you have to poke the q'cell for a while and try to get the bubbles to rise up and get them out..If you get bubbles you can always make a very small mix later and scrape more q-cell over and fill up the bubbles like a second layer..Note here that you should try to be tidy with your filling and not spread the q'cell everywhere and spill it all over the place...try to just put it in the hole and fill it up just a little over the height of the hole itself...(it shrinks just a little when hardening.)

4/ As soon as the q-cell goes ½ hard..dvs..harder than jelly you can use a new stanley blade lying down ...hold it with your fingers and pull it thru the q'cell..if the q'cell is too soft you'll feel it...just wait for a couple of minutes more and check it's consistency till it's hard enough but not so hard that you can't draw the blade thru it... very carefully trim off the height of the repair before it goes rock hard..this will reduce the amount of sanding you have to do to get the fill to the right height before glassing over...

5/ After it's hard, sand the q-cell down to the height of the hole itself..dvs...you must have a lower area to place the new fibreglass in so that when you sand it back after that is hard the board will be FLAT and not higher or lower than the original surface..

6/ Cut pieces of glass to fit the hole as accurately as possible..this reduces sanding work later as well...check the height of the fibreglass so that if you have ..say 1 peice of 6oz in the middle a little smaller to fill the deepest part and 1 peice of 4oz over to cover the whole area and mix with resin it will be pretty much the right height at the end..if you need to add more small pieces to get the right height cut them and get it all ready..mix the resin..wet the area with resin and then layer over layer place each piece in and wet it..work out the bubbles..when it's hard sand it off and get it level..get wet and dry paper..and some water with dishwashing liquid and use it with the paper and rub the scratches out...the smoother the paper the better the finish..Start with maybe 180 grade and then 300 grade and then 600 grade to finish it off..rub for a while with each grade and hen advance to the finer grade and do the same...Good luck....RAT

läste inte hela inlägget men blanda resin med q-cell tills du får önskad tjocklek på smeten sen häller du i härdaren. grymt galleri förresten rattman!

P.S. Det kan vara lite för mycket info på en gång...men....läsa min info sakta...ta mitt råd och planera innan du göra jobbet..Jag har 30 års erfarenhet i surfbräda reparation .....men det är svårt att beskriva i ord hur det går i verkligheten..Jag tror att om du läsa noga kan du fixa dinget riktigt bra !!!

Nog skulle jag rekommensera en vanlig Svenskt syckling till att putsa ytan me. Viktigt är att sickla på rätt tid - just när det börja blir fast men inte hård. Ungefär som att sickla av en skida eller snåbård. Man ställer sicklingen upp och drad över ytan på så sätt att du inter kommer ner in i grouppen utan använder omkringliggande höjder som guide. Det betydligt jämnare och mer akurat höjden ger mindre arbete framöver. Erkänner att jag inte förstå varför man hammra en sked till att bli platt som verktyg .... glass pinne eller gratis pinne i trä från färghandeln - finns i olika storlekar är min tips ... håller också med att man kan blanda smeten först och sedan härdaren ... så tror jag också att man på sått sätt har tid att låta luftbubblorna från blandningsmomenten försvinner till viss del - flera omgånger/skickt är iblnd mer tacksam en att försöker få till det i ett moment. Om du skicklar av ytan mittimellan mjukt och hårt behöver di inte sanda mellan de olika skickten heller. Tajpa av området KAN vara att rokomendera vid första omgång.

Skall man lägga ett lager ovanpå med glasfiber + resin så det blir lite starkare eller räcker det med q-cellen?

Måste lägga glass och resin över..q-cell är inte vatten tätt...

Oh yeh..anledningen at jag säger att man ska blanda hardener 1st i resinet är att om man av misstag blanda för mycket q-cell in i början det är väldigt svårt att blanda in hardener gemon HELA mixet..Om du blanda q-cell och resin lite first så att det är väldigt flytande..lägga i hardener då och sen komplimera me mera q-cell tills det blir chockar blir det bra oxå....Den andra killen hade rätt.....Jag glömmde att säga att du skulle tejpa av området precis utanför där du ska fylla up med q-cell..sen riva du BORT tejpet när du skär bort det mjuka q-cell..obs. ser till att du ta bort tejpet innan det blir för hårt annars fastnar tejpet under q-cell när den blir hård..Om du tejpa då slippa du att slipa lika mycket oxå...

Det blev riktigt bra! Men jag räkna lite fel på härdare-mängden först. Jag kom fram till att 6-8 droppar per matsked resin känns som en bra mängd.

Kniv tipset var bra tycker jag, skall testa att sickla en annan gång kanske... Även bra till att använda när jag formade tailen som ocå fått sig en smäll...

Jag orkade inte göra flera lager glasfiber, det blev bara ett "lock" men jag får hoppas att det räcker...

Tack för tipsen! Imorgon skall jag fixa 2 hål jag hittade när jag våtslipade när jag trodde jag var så gott som klar...

finns det microballonger att köpa någonstans? Eller vad är annars bäst att fylla ut ett stort hål i skummet med ?
