jag och en kompis ska bila runt i kalifornien och tänkte stanna lite längre någonstans kring Mission/Pacific Beach upp till North County. Vi letar efter en perfect match för mig som vill surfa och bo nära stranden, men vill också ha nära till barhäng mm - någon som kan tipsa om ställer samt boende?

PB låter bra om ni vill ha nära till barer. Var beredda på relativt små vågor och mycket crowds... sök på craigslist om ni vill hitta lägenheter eller rum.

try finding your hotel at www.hotels.com or check out motel 6.com web site. The best thing is not to book too many days and get a rental car so you can drive around. There are plenty of hotels and deals to be found especially now with the economic slowdown.

Like robin_201 said, this time of year the swell isn't the best - and I would consider other spots in SD since PB/Mission tend to be crowded. Go south from Carlsbad on the coast highway and there are plenty of good surf spots. Trust me, you'll find plenty

Barhäng vid stranden finns "nästan" bara i PB, som i mina ögon mest påminner om Kos eller liknande... Surf finns precis överallt, frågan är vad ni vill ha förutom surf, det får väl styra var/hur ni ska bo. Att bo vid standen är få förunnat (dyrt), bil är nästan ett måste tyvärr.

Det kommer att vara crowded tills i augusti när alla Zonies åker hem och skolorna börjar, massor med stingrockor tills vattnet blir kallare i oktober, större swells väntas inte förrän i höst...

Take highway 5 northbound and exit on encinitas blvd, make a left turn and go all the way down until you hit the ocean, make another left. From there, go south and to your right you'll find plenty of spots all the way from Carlsbad to Torrey Pines State Beach (north side is the best).

A tip is to park on the side of the road and walk down a bluff area...we usually surf right after Cardiff there are plenty of bluffs to walk down to and generally the crowds won't be there because they are too lazy to explore.

Weekends are crowded for the most part, but weekdays tend to be less crowded especially the big spots like Swamis etc. If you want to check out some pics from summer surf in SD as well as forecasts go to the site below....there is plenty of surf in the summer...but at times you will find that having a longboard helps on the smaller days
